Meet the artist

Name: Mony Maringa (MQ)
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Where do you live? Where are you from? I live in Nairobi, and I am from Kenya/Rwanda.
What mediums do you work with? Why? Mixed media. As a visual artist and amateur 3D Animator, I tend to take photos, paint and then complete the piece digitally.
What responsibilities, if any, do you take on as a creator? I give people something to reflect on by being sincere with my art. I don't sell lies.
What do you want your audience to know about you? I AM AFRICAN +254 (Kenya) +250 (Rwanda)
What are your hopes for the future? I simply want to do better in life.
Is there anything else you would like to share? Being labeled a creative is wonderful, but it makes life harder. One suddenly has to walk, talk, and live a certain way. You are always expected to be that peculiar "person" who looks at everything differently. And being a young lady doesn't make it any easier. I love being a creative, but it's hard to live in a box where sometimes all you are seen as is a female object/artist.
My piece is based on all these changes and experiences. It's about why artist's are slightly psychotic. It's titled "Artistic lives = Suicide". It's almost poetic.
